Dr. Roby Mitchell

Dr. Roby Mitchell, affectionately known as Dr. Fitt, is a Texas-based physician who specializes in educating people about adopting lifestyle changes that prevent and reverse disease. Dr. Mitchell graduated with honors from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, Lubbock, and won a fellowship in cardiovascular pharmacology working under pioneering physiologist PKT Pang, studying the pathophysiology of hypertension. While participating in an exchange program with Jinan University Medical School in China, Dr. Mitchell was exposed to traditional Chinese medicine. The experience forever changed his opinion about the narrow options of conventional Western medicine.

After personally struggling with hypertension, being overweight, insulin resistance and arthritis, Dr. Mitchell revisited the alternative techniques of biochemical rebalancing with diet and supplements. Dr. Mitchell successfully healed and restored his health, while simultaneously, redirecting his focus as a practicing physician. His practice now focuses on reversing “‘toximation’—the inter-connected processes of endocrine dysregulation, oxidative stress, and chronic systemic inflammation—through nutritional change, exercise, and hormone rebalancing.”

Dr. Mitchell is also the creator of the BALi diet, which is short for the Basic Antioxidant/Antifungal Low Insulin diet. He created this eating plan after researching his premise that the body can be healed with food alone, without the aid of medicine. By avoiding all types of yeast, wheat, canned or processed foods, refined grains, iodized salt, sugar or artificial sweeteners and regular dairy products, the BALi diet aims to make blood more basic, or alkaline; control the body’s level of candida, a naturally occurring yeast; aid in insulin regulation; and increase the body’s intake of antioxidants that can inhibit the ability of free radicals to damage DNA and cellular tissue.
